The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a brand-new generation of what has become one of the most important luxury mid-size SUVs in Canada. Already popular, the GLE takes everything that we loved about the previous generation and improves upon it. It is now more spacious, more refined, more elegant and more efficient.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE comes standard with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. That's a lot of power for an entry-level engine as evidenced by its 0-100 km/h acceleration of around 7.0 seconds. That said, this engine’s main differentiating factor is its fuel economy which is truly impressive for such a large SUV.
If you want more power, you can turn to the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450. The latter provides 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque which is enough to reach 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. The power comes from a 3.0-litre inline-6 turbocharged engine that’s paired with Mercedes-Benz’ EQ Boost system which assists in power delivery and activating various functions of the vehicle while also improving fuel economy. Both engines can tow up to 3,500 kg which makes them capable of towing most small boats or campers with ease.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE’s interior has been completely redesigned from the ground up with a new dashboard that features two large touchscreens that include the new MBUX system. The latter includes a range of benefits including simplified voice commands and an artificial intelligence system that adapts to your specific preferences.
With the GLE, regardless of the model, you get 630 litres in the trunk. Space can go up to 2,055 litres if you lower the rear seat. There’s also a new available third row of seats in the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE which brings total capacity up to 7 passengers.
