MBV Introduces Aldrich Ang as General Sales Manager

Mercedes-Benz Vancouver is excited to announce Aldrich Ang as our new General Sales Manager. With over 15 years of experience in the automotive industry, we welcome Aldrich to lead our sales team and carry on the exceptional customer service our customers have come to expect over the years.
Raised in New York, Aldrich and his family moved to the Lower Mainland in the 90’s. Before entering the automotive industry, Aldrich started in financial management, making the transition in 2009 when new opportunities presented themselves in the automotive world.
Over the course of a few years, Aldrich honed his sales skills, working with various Auto Groups in the Valley before landing at Mercedes-Benz Vancouver in 2020. He has since been promoted to General Sales Manager thanks to his incredible passion and dedication to the Mercedes-Benz brand and our store.
We sat down with Aldrich to talk about his experience with Mercedes-Benz Vancouver, his family and the many highlights of living in Vancouver.
Hello Aldrich! So how long have you been with Mercedes-Benz Vancouver now?
Since 2020. So over three years now!
And what led you into the automotive industry?
Prior to auto, I actually worked for a company that managed individual wealth, group pensions, and group RRSPs. Then in '08 the market crash happened and I had to change my career. While looking for a change, someone I knew recruited me into the automotive industry. After considering it for some time, I thought to myself, sure, I'll try it. During my first month, I sold and delivered 13 cars, and I haven't looked back since.
Could you talk a little bit about your day-to-day now?
There is always a lot going on - generally, my role varies on a given day. I shape the day by fostering a positive sales culture and contributing to the overall success of the organization. Daily, I am providing leadership, guidance, training and development opportunities. On the creative side, I collaborate with marketing, product development, and other departments to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.
For our customers, I ensure our customer service and customer interactions are always handled to the highest standards. We are constantly implementing strategies to enhance the overall customer experience.
What is your management philosophy?
To become an effective leader I often combine elements of different philosophies based on the dynamic nature of the challenges I face. I love to read and learn about leadership modalities and strategies. There is so much amazing information and so many tools. Some of the philosophies I adopt include Transformational, Agile and Collaborative Leadership.
I also believe in leaders who focus on serving and supporting their team members, putting the needs of the team first. The idea is that by serving others, leaders can create a positive and empowering work environment.
What makes Mercedes-Benz Vancouver unique in your view?
At Mercedes-Benz Vancouver, we pride ourselves on providing a premium experience to our customers, including a focus on luxury, advanced technology, and high-quality service.
One thing that makes us unique is our people. That's something that will always be different from all other dealer experiences. We focus on our people and our customers. It's all about the customer journey and employee satisfaction. Combined with the proximity of the location, Mercedes-Benz is definitely unique.
What keeps you busy outside of work?
Outside of work, my main focus is on my family and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I have 2 wonderful boys, a beautiful daughter and a very supportive, loving wife. Our family is always on the go! We are deeply rooted within our children’s schools, sporting teams and communities.
If you have time for a date night, where do you like to go?
If it's dining with the kids, it's always a family-friendly restaurant. But if I do have time for a nicer date night with my wife, the options are endless in Vancouver. She usually ends up picking a fantastic spot.
Any food you love in particular?
I'm a foodie in the way I love to experience and try different things. There’s a world of flavours and textures to discover! I also love to check out different breweries and cocktail bars.
What activities do you and the family do together?
Every season in Vancouver offers something different for family activities. During the wintertime, we always try to go for a ski trip to Whistler or a local hill. In the summertime, we like to go camping or have a little getaway at a resort. Once a year we try to get away for a family vacation with the kids to California; they love Disneyland. In the future, we hope to kind of explore Asia. Japan is especially on the list!
What are your favourite cars, past or present?
I love the GLS 63. I currently drive one of the larger SUVs. With the three kids and my wife– I like to have three rows of seating to take the in-laws or grandparents along for the ride.
Looking ahead to 2024, what are you looking forward to at Mercedes-Benz Vancouver?
I am really looking forward to continued growth, both with the team and the dealership as a whole. I aspire for Mercedes-Benz Vancouver to one day achieve the Star Dealer Award. We also have a great reputation for exceptional customer service and I want to continue to foster that relationship with our clients.
