March 06 2024, Mercedes-Benz Vancouver
Formula 1 is back and the 2024 season promises to be an exciting, if not emotional year, for the Mercedes team as Lewis Hamilton departs from the number one driver’s seat this year.
With the first few races underway, we’re taking a look at Hamilton’s tenure with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and speculating about the future of the club as rumours of George Russell’s ascent to the number one seat amass.
After several years within the F1 space, Hamilton joined the Mercedes team in 2013. Since then, he has made quite the name for himself. His career achievements include seven World Champion titles (six with Mercedes), as well as the most wins, pole positions, and podium finishes in Formula One history.
With over 10 years of history with the Mercedes F1 team, Hamilton is saying goodbye to the seat of his team car, transitioning to the Ferrari team in 2025.
While several names are floating around about who will take the seat, Mercedes has yet to announce any candidates for F1 2025.
This year, F1 fans will recognize a familiar lineup, as all 20 drivers that finished the 2023 season are taking to the grid in 2024 - a first in the history of the sport. 24 races are set to take place this year, concluding on December 8 in Abu Dhabi’s on the Yas Marina track.
The season will span 21 countries across five continents, with recent additions of Miami, Qatar, and Las Vegas joining the track roster. China has also returned to F1 for the first time since 2019, hosting the first Formula Spring of 2024 on April 19-21.
With a historic season underway F1 2024 promises to be an exceptional event, and one that is sure to conclude with exciting news regarding the future of the Mercedes Team.
