Lunar New Year Highlights.
February 02 2023, Mercedes-Benz Vancouver
For the first time in three years, Mercedes-Benz Vancouver celebrated the Lunar New Year in person!
Hundreds of MBV clients across the Lower Mainland came together on January 15th for a day filled with fun, laughter, and many sweet treats.
The day began with a welcome speech from our dealership managers before opening up the stage to a traditional lion dance that consisted of three ornate lions decked in red and gold. As they danced and chased their respective cabbages, before eventually devouring the vegetables representing the distribution of wealth and luck in the new year, MBV clients were able to enjoy an assortment of refreshments from around the showroom.
Additional performances throughout the day included rhythmic Japanese drummers, graceful Chinese umbrella dances, and an awe-inspiring martial arts performance routine, along with beautiful calligraphy demonstrations and intricate paper-cutting artists. Lucky attendees were also able to partake in exclusive contests – all under a backdrop of the luxury Mercedes-Benz models on display.
It was an incredible affair to welcome in the Year of the Rabbit, a year marked for hope and prosperity.
The Lunar New Year is typically celebrated for 16 days, following the appearance of the new moon. This year, the official festivities began on January 22, with the Year of the Rabbit lasting until February 9, 2024.
Commonly confusing for Capricorns and Aquarians born in January and February, the Chinese Zodiac’s dates shift from year to year. Those born under the Year of the Rabbit are said to be witty, considerate, and responsible, but also stubborn and conservative in nature.
Each animal also contains an elemental attribute that shifts every 12 years. Following the traditional five elements in Chinese culture – metal, wood, water, fire, and earth – 2023 falls under a Water Rabbit. These witty rabbits are thought to be amicable, enduring, and adaptable to change at the risk of possessing a weak mindset and set of principles.
Overall, the Year of the Rabbit is predicted to be a good year to nurture and build solid foundations in all parts of your life. It is a patient year that cautions against high risks, and promotes focus on promising long-term relationships and engaging in favourable opportunities with diligence.
We cannot wait to celebrate more successes with all our wonderful Mercedes-Benz clients this year. Here’s to another year filled with growth, luck, and joy!
Happy New Year! Xīn Nián Kuài Lè!
