April 05 2024, Mercedes-Benz Vancouver
Big changes are on the way for Mercedes’ iconic G-Series lineup with the arrival of the 2025 G 63 and G 550. Both vehicles have undergone a series of updates, bringing a myriad of modern features to the interior, powertrain diversification and exterior modifications.
Here’s your first look at what’s on the horizon for the 2025 G-Class lineup.
2025 AMG G 63
Mercedes G-Series has long endured and exceeded the challenges faced by off-road terrain and the 2025 G 63 shows no exception. Its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 boasts a staggering 605 hp and 627 lb-ft. What’s new is the 48-volt mild hybrid system integrated within the engine, providing power to a league of new features like the optional AMG Active Ride Control.
G 550
The biggest changes in the G-Series lineup arrives within the G 550. Mercedes have opted for a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six over the previous V8 still featured in the G 63. The new powertrain produces 443 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, up 27 horses but down 37 lb-ft, which Mercedes equates to an improved fuel economy.
But tried and true tradition keeps the G 550 the best choice for off-road excursions. With 9.5 inches of ground clearance, the ability to climb 45-degree grades and of course, the iconic G-turn, the G 550 is a true to form icon in 2025.
Improving The Formula
The 2025 G-Series is not without some aesthetic updates either. Both models have received some significant new features, including front and rear fascias that breathe new personalities into the iconic lineage of the model.
Mercedes has also updated the aerodynamic attributes of G-Class models with the addition of a spoiler lip and new windshield pillar for a sleeker profile and quieter cabin experience. Off-roaders will also appreciate the new Offroad Cockpit 360-degree camera view, providing a tactical “invisible hood.”
Onto the interior, drivers will no doubt recognize the signature aesthetic of both G models with several new enhancements improving on the overall quality of life behind the wheel: climate-controlled cup holders, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and the biggest update, the long-awaited MBUX system, which introduces wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a touch screen and the Mercedes voice assistant.
