Mercedes-Benz is at the forefront of a game-changing partnership with six other major automakers, including General Motors, BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, and Stellantis N.V., to significantly enhance North America's electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
This plan aims to nearly double the number of high-powered charging stations with the installation of 30,000 fast chargers in urban areas and along highways by 2030. This landmark initiative addresses a key concern among EV drivers, ensuring convenient and reliable charging options on the road, no matter where you go.
The joint venture comes in response to the exponential growth of electric vehicle sales, with projections showing EVs accounting for over half of all car sales in the U.S. by 2030. Charging infrastructure and range anxiety have been obstacles to widespread EV adoption, but this collaboration represents a united effort to make electric mobility more accessible and attractive to consumers. The first stations are expected to be operational by summer 2024, marking a significant milestone in the EV revolution.
As a luxury brand at the forefront of automotive innovation, Mercedes-Benz is committed to delivering an exceptional EV experience to its valued customers. The expanded charging network, open to all electric vehicle owners, showcases Mercedes-Benz's dedication to sustainability and customer convenience.
We intend to use renewable energy sources to power these charging stations, furthering our commitment to environmental stewardship and a greener future. Together, we are writing the next chapter in the history of automotive excellence, and the future looks brighter than ever before.
